Apprenticeships are jobs with accompanying skills and development that are designed by employers. They develop technical knowledge, skills and behaviours which include the capability within English, Maths and interpersonal skills required for current and future aspirations of the sector. Development is acquired through a blended mix of 20% off the job training and 80% workplace skills.
The Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship programme is designed for those who have a wealth of experience in Adult Care and are looking to develop their careers in a specialist or senior role. Lead Adult Care Workers promote, enhance and champion service provision to colleagues, other professionals and the wider society. Apprentices will develop an in-depth awareness of the scope of Adult Care, the roles and responsibilities that extend the foundations to enhance career prospects as a Lead Adult Care Worker. Developing sufficient depth of knowledge, skills and behaviours relating to the: roles and responsibilities, legal frameworks, codes of conduct and best practice within Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Equality, Personalisation, Care Planning, Safeguarding Principles and Practices, Risk Assessments, Capacity, Advocacy, Service Delivery, alongside an enhanced understanding and application of the 6Cs that is used to develop others. Lead Adult Care workers will promote effective and appropriate practices and services from colleagues, wider professionals that ensure effective and professional service delivery.
Apprentices develop in-depth knowledge, skills and behaviours to apply or sustain a productive career supporting and developing colleagues in a variety of settings including residential, nursing, domiciliary, day care and clinical settings. Working with colleagues and individuals with various needs, abilities and conditions. Many Lead Adult Care Workers progress their careers into senior roles and nursing.
Lead Adult Care Workers will be employed within a role, working towards, being developed or on a placement that allow for the following opportunities for apprentices to:
1. Full Cost £3,000 or 5% contribution 2. Duration 12 – 15 months 3. Care Certificate 4. Enhanced Disclosure and Barring clearance 5. Functional Skills English at Level 2 or equivalent
6. Functional Skills Mathematics at Level 2 or equivalent

Lead Adult Care Workers will develop an in-depth knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of frontline workers within Adult Care to ensure high quality delivery and professionalism. Lead Adult Care workers will develop an in-depth awareness of how to support colleagues, individuals and other professionals understand the importance of high quality service provision that ensures positive differences to an individual’s life when being faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges.
Lead Adult Care Workers will develop knowledge, skills and behaviours to support the development of competencies to provide and support the delivery of high-quality compassionate care and support to individuals with others and internal and external stakeholders.
Lead Adult Care Workers will develop an in-depth knowledge, skills and behaviours relating to safeguarding measures, protocols, best practice, legislation, regulation, codes of conduct specifically within health, safety and wellbeing, person-centred support, care planning, risk assessments, equality and inclusion, mental capacity, advocacy, wider roles and responsibilities alongside in-depth knowledge of specific conditions of those whom they are providing care and support to. Lead Adult Care Workers will develop presentation skills, leadership skills, confidence to work autonomously to ensure high quality service delivery from a highly qualified and professional workforce.
Lead Adult Care Workers will develop wider skills that elevate confidence, resilience, capability, coping strategies and competence to ensure an effective and sustained career and progression opportunities as a Lead Adult Care.

End point Assessment ensures that Lead Adult Care Workers have not only achieved the full components of the apprenticeship but have also retained and apprehended their newly acquired Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours. End Point Assessment is completed by an independent Organisation.
There are two components to be assessed:
1. Situational judgement test
Sixty questions based on potential situations that any Lead Adult Care Worker may encounter with a choice of 4 potential responses.
2. Professional discussion.
An in-depth, two-way professional discussion between the apprentice and the independent assessor, lasting no more than 45 minutes. The discussion will be based on knowledge, skills and behaviours set from the apprenticeship standard, broadly covering:
