About this course
Learners will develop substantial knowledge, skills and behaviours that will guide and inspire their team to provide excellent values-based culture at an operational level.
Developing specialist knowledge and skills in their area of responsibility that will allow them to take a lead role in assessing performance and quality delivery.
Learners will develop detailed knowledge of relevant legislation, ethical frameworks, best practice, codes of conduct, data protection, principles of assessment, risk management, local and national solutions to safeguarding adults and children, models of monitoring, reporting and responding to health and wellbeing, person centered approaches, joint and integrated care and support, communication, detailed knowledge and application of the 6C’s alongside personal development to ensure high quality service provision at an operational level.
Learners will develop substantial knowledge, skills and behaviours to allow them to apply or sustain a productive career, supporting and developing colleagues and services delivery at an operational level in a variety of settings that could include, nursing, domiciliary, day care and clinical settings. Learners will develop sufficient knowledge, skills and behaviours to prepare for a sustained and productive career within Senior Management or Care Manager roles.
To achieve the full requirements of the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care learners must achieve 86 credits of which 72 are mandatory the remaining 14 credits to be chosen from allocated roles and responsibilities.

Learners must be employed within a role, working towards, being developed or on a placement that allows for opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours in areas that include:
- Developing and applying systems and processes needed to ensure compliance with regulations and organisational policies and procedures
- Implementing strategies to support others to manage the risks presented when balancing individual rights and professional duty of care
- Developing and applying systems and processes that monitor and sustain quality of the service, including assessments, care plans and service delivery
- Leading and supporting others to work in a person-centred way and to ensure active participation which enhances the well-being and quality of life of individuals
- Encouraging and enabling both staff and people who access care and support to be involved in the co-production of how the service operates
- Managing all resources in delivering complex care and support efficiently and effectively
- Developing and leading implementation of organisational practices to create and sustain a culture that actively champions dignity and respects diversity, inclusion and fairness in the workplace
- Developing and leading a culture that values courage in working in ways that may challenge workers’ own cultural and belief systems
- Developing and implementing organisational processes to ensure that records and reports are written clearly and concisely and to keep information safe and preserve confidentiality
- Translating policy and guidance into understandable information for a range of audiences including people who access care and support, carers and families and other colleagues
